A check for $10,000 was presented to the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation to establish a fund for "The St. Albans High School Foundation". The money was donated from the SAHS Alumni Association. The SAHS Alumni Association was organized to hold the Millennium Celebration in 2000 for all Alumni and was a great success.
The celebration pulled together all alumni from the St. Albans area and our out-of-state graduates. An Open House was held on Friday evening for everyone to congregate at St. Albans High School, and the lawn and school were crowded with eager alumni. On Saturday, the day was started with the largest parade ever to celebrate in St. Albans with past homecoming queens, alumni cheerleaders and majorettes. St. Albans Main Street was used for everyone to congregate, and the store fronts were decorated with alumni paraphernalia and venders on the street in remembrance of the old Town Fair, which was a huge part of our St. Albans history. A dinner and dance was held on Saturday evening at the Civic Center.
The vision of the St. Albans High School Foundation is to promote greatness by supporting the academic, athletic, artistic, and social programs at SAHS. Through this Foundation it will ensure that the legacy of excellence is continued at St. Albans High School for generations to come. All tax-deductible contributions may be sent to The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, c/o The St. Albans High School Foundation, PO Box 3041, Charleston, WV 25331
